My New Car

Thu Nov 12, 2009, 9:32 PM
After much searching and many enquiries about acquiring a cheap old Ute, I finally stumbled across a gem.
Now I would have been happy with something similar to My old Datsun Ute(preferably not so clapped out). But then came an offer I could not refuse.
This car is 35 years old and the body is still in fairly original condition, with very little rust. Mechanically it is in top condition. The interior is also good and mostly original.
It is an HQ Holden Ute. This is an Aussie icon. It has a 253 V8 and an Aussie 4 speed gearbox.
The only things that are not original, that I have seen, are the GTS grill and GTS dash, also things like the external mirrors. It possibly has Yella Terra heads on it(they are yellow) and I think it has a mild cam.
It cost Me $1500 to buy and I expect to spend $1200-$1500 to get it registed.
All in All it equates to retail therapy at it's very best.
I think I have found My new love...
